Transport Operations Manager
Lead the operation. Develop the people. Shape what comes next.
The role
-
Lead safe, reliable and efficient collections, deliveries, planning and daily problem-solving.
-
Coach and develop drivers, planners and office colleagues, building a motivated, accountable team.

Act as the named CPC-qualified Transport Manager on our Operator Licence, ensuring effective and continuous management of transport activities and strong legal compliance.

Oversee vehicle roadworthiness, maintenance arrangements, drivers’ hours, tachographs and transport safety, working with our Health & Safety and Compliance Manager.

Improve fleet utilisation, reduce avoidable empty running and service failures, and protect customer service standards.

Control transport costs, report clear KPIs and work with the Managing Director on productivity, fleet investment and plans for sustainable growth.
About you
-
You hold the National Transport Manager CPC in Road Haulage and are eligible for approval as the named Transport Manager.

You have proven experience leading a road haulage, distribution or comparable transport operation.

You know UK Operator Licence requirements, transport legislation and practical fleet compliance inside out.

You are a confident people leader and decisive problem-solver, with strong commercial judgement and a record of improving performance.
Experience in pallet distribution, transport management systems or telematics would be an advantage.
A role with room to grow
We want someone who will develop their team, raise standards and bring fresh ideas. For the right person, there may be potential to progress to Transport Director as the business develops, subject to performance and business requirements.

We are seeking an accomplished Transport Operations Manager to lead 33 vehicles, 36 drivers, our planners and operations office, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will have real autonomy to lead, improve performance and help shape our next chapter.
