We’re looking for our next Apprentice Class C (Class 2) Driver - an enthusiastic, motivated individual who is eager to make a change and step up to the challenge of driving 18-tonne trucks. You don’t need to have truck driving experience – just a positive attitude, determination, and the drive to succeed.

About the role:

 

Over 6 – 12 months you will be working towards becoming a fully-fledged member of our growing driver team through work shadowing, time in our warehouse department, and hands on experience delivering to our customers in our transit van whilst learning the job. 

 

You will be responsible for collecting and delivering to our customers across the North East and Northumberland, whilst ensuring a professional service throughout.

 

You will learn about the regulations surrounding drivers hours, tachographs and working time legislation.

An excellent team player is a must as the ability to communicate effectively with your colleagues will be an important part of your role

 

You should be able to complete paperwork and use smart phone technology.

 

Drive and ambition with the enthusiasm to learn new skills

 

What you will need:

 

A full UK/EU license with a 0 points in the last 2 years

 

What we offer:

 

We will work with you to achieve your restricted counterbalance forklift license and achieve your full Cat C license including theory DCPC and practical test.

 

Hours of work are minimum 40 hours per week, with overtime as required.  The company operates a Saturday standby rota. Average hours will be between 8am till 6pm Monday to Friday. 

 

The successful candidate will receive an hourly rate of pay at National Minimum wage whilst in training.  Once complete this will be at standard drivers hourly wage. The Company also offers pension scheme, profit share and health scheme after your probationary period.  A uniform will be provided. 

 

Once a job offer has been made, you will be expected to get an LGV medical report (D4) and to have your HGV Provisional before a start date is provided.
