This International Women's Day, we want to shine a light on our Managing Director, Caroline Moody, who began her career with the family company back in 1992! Caroline is the third generation of Moody's, now running day-to-day operations within the company and a huge advocate of encouraging people to consider a career in logistics.

After leaving the business for a short while to raise her family, she agreed to return as Business Development Director, spending the next few years juggling family life and commuting to Northumberland from down South by train 3 days a week!
She has been instrumental in growing the business, including creating a 12,000 square foot cross-deck loading and unloading facility. In 2021 she invested £350,000 in the fleet, making it more fuel efficient to accommodate growth and maintain a seamless operation. In the same year, the business won the Regional Member of the Year Award for Scotland and the North East, a National award from Pall-Ex.
Caroline has been the driving force behind kicking off what has become a very successful apprenticeship scheme, starting back in 2016 welcoming 10 apprentices into the business. During the pandemic she had to think on her feet, as the apprenticeship scheme was hampered by delays in processing LGC licence applications and test dates, so much so that she decided to launch Moody's own bespoke scheme in conjunction with Tyneside Training Services. It's been fantastically successful, with numerous apprentices coming through the scheme, having gained their Class 2 licence's within a 7 month period- compared to the 12-18 months it took via the government's scheme.
To gain a greater insight into life behind the wheel, Caroline gained her HGV licence. She wanted to be able to fully appreciate the role of the drivers, and the hard work that's involved in not only driving such a big vehicle, but the strength required for loading/unloading trucks along with opening and closing the curtain-sided trailer.
In 2011, she became Managing Director of the Bolam Group, which comprises Moody Logistics and Storage, Heathline Commercials and MCR Services.
Caroline has enjoyed success in the industry with award wins including the 2020 Amazon Everywoman Freight Leader Award, and Northern Transport Woman of the Year 2021 Award.
Her passion for the industry and it's continued growth doesn't end in the workplace and she is an advocate for getting more young people into the industry, spending time educating children and young adults in schools. Running campaigns with local Primary Schools as well as visiting schools and colleges to talk about the variety of roles within the transport and logistics industry.
She is a true leader within the transport and logistics industry and her great success stories are a true reflection.
